The EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre (EEC) is a service business unit of the EUROCONTROL Agency. (EUROCONTROL is the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation.) The EEC is entrusted with executing the research and development programmes of the Agency.

The mission of the EEC is to play a leading role in research relevant to the safe, efficient, and environmentally-sustainable management and operation of the European ATM system.

Constantly aware of the needs of citizens in the 21st century, and being at the centre of the European ATM research network, the EEC drives research to ensure the timely delivery of the evolutions to the ATM component of the European transport system.

ENVISA offers a high level of expertise in addressing air transport environmental issues including noise, local air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, weather modelling and cost benefits. It develops and employs a wide range of modelling tools related to these questions.

Based in Paris, ENVISA collaborates with international universities, airports, transportation companies and independent consultants, providing specialised support and complementarities on an ad-hoc basis.

QinetiQ is one of the world's leading defence technology and security companies, with over 11,000 employees.

We will be bringing our expertise in the Air Traffic Management and Environmental Assessment domains to MIME.

The Air Traffic Management Group has a history, breadth and depth of understanding of the system, technical, operational and procedural issues of CNS/ATM. We have developed a synthetic environment which represents aircraft movements at airports and TMA together with integrated noise and emissions models; also a flexible 4D tool for visualisation of simulation results.

The Air Vehicle Studies and Environment team has expertise and experience in aircraft performance and environmental impact, including aircraft design and assessment, as well as noise and emissions prediction. We have developed a number of tools and methods, providing a capability for interdependency modelling and trade studies of technologies and configuration.

The Institute for Transport Studies is a free-standing school of the University of Leeds and sits within the Faculty of the Environment. The Institute's aims are to advance the understanding of transport activity, operations and use and to develop skills and best practice among transport professionals and decision-makers.

ITS is a leading centre for transport research. It secured a 5* rating, the highest rank, in the most recent UK Research Assessment Exercise in 2001, maintaining the top ranking it achieved in the 1996 and 1992 assessments. Major funders of research at ITS are the European Commission, Department for Transport and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).

ITS maintains two research facilities and was the first academic unit in Britain to achieve ISO 9001 accreditation for research activities. ITS currently has around 90 staff and 30 research students.

TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY MUNICH (Germany)

The TUM started life as one of Germany’s oldest schools of technology. Since its foundation in 1868 it has offered a wide range of scientific and engineering subjects, including architecture. This range has been extended continuously. Today there are twelve faculties and six central institutes with some 480 professors, a staff of 8,500 and approx. 20,000 students.

TUM was voted Elite University in a joint decision taken by the Science Council and the German Research Foundation on 13.10.2006.
